This tool is not intended for serious mycology or professional use, its results are simply suggestions to make it easier to look up species descriptions without working through dichotomous keys, which I get lost in. It doesn't have all known species, I've focused on the ones that have been recorded in Scotland / Britain. Lots of species can only be identified with microscopy and I haven't entered all of the microscopic ID characters to make that possible.

How to use the key

Select traits to include () or exclude () to filter the list of species. The results update immediately.

• Results show species matching at least one trait selected
  _{eg. Cap = blue OR grey OR brown}
• Use to make traits required
  _{eg. Cap = [ blue] AND [grey OR brown]}
• Traits in different characters are all required
  _{eg. [Cap = blue OR grey] AND [Stem = blue OR grey]}
• Traits can be excluded
  _{eg. Cap = [grey OR brown] AND NOT [blue OR violaceous]}
• Red numbers beside trait names indicate how many species will remain after filtering
  _{eg. Cap = blue (16) / Cap = blue AND Stem = brown (4)}
